On July 19^th in Edmonton, Alberta the CCMA (Canadian Country Music Association) announced the artists for the New Artist Showcase.  On hearing that he had been chosen as one of the fortunate few – Dawson had this to say: “WOW – a great week just got better for my first CCMA experience.  This is an amazing opportunity for me to show my stuff to many Canadian and International top country music people!  A big thanks to the CCMA and the panel of jurors for selecting me to showcase this year – I feel very honoured to have received one of these very prestigious showcases!”

All artists were selected through a submission process and a two-tier jury process composed of industry members from across Canada.  The showcase will take place Thursday, September 9^th at 9:30pm at the Shaw Conference Centre (Hall D) and will be hosted by the 2009 CCMA Rising Star Award winner  Tara Oram.  A secret panel will also be onsite adjudicating the performances and the best in show will receive the 2010 New Artist Showcase Award.  Tickets are available online at www.countrymusicedmonton.com.  Set times are still be determined.

Dawson Reigns is the latest product of a fusion between rock influences and country.  The first single from his Jason Barry produced album (Enjoy The Ride) – “If Crazy Wasn’t So Beautiful” went Top 20 on the Canadian Country Chart, “Empty Handed” his follow-up single currently sits in the Top 30.  A new single is expected in mid-August.

Bob Harris of BBC Radio 2 (who has been considered as the “Holy Grail” for acts worldwide) jumped on board with Team Dawson in mid-July, calling Dawson’s debut album – “A very good album”!  The acclaimed magazine out of the UK – Maverick Magazine gave a 4 Star review and calls Enjoy The Ride – “An impressive debut!”

Many in Canada will remember Cam from his days at CHAM Radio in Hamilton and CJKX Radio in Ajax working both on air and in the creative departments.
